Shock the crusty

That was the plan....Shock my system into overdrive or fail miserably. Well it didn't disappoint to say the least. After yesterday's catastrophe I was a wee bit nervous considering I got a big one coming up.

So the first half of the journey consisted of the CET. But I pushed the time limit on it. Now I made a real test for myself. Pushing that route in 1:30 would be a true test. After a solid warm up I hit Sweet Spot and stayed there and above for the rest of the journey. Holy shiittee that was hard!!! Good stiff wind of 10-15 played hell with me on the way out. But I made it 2 minutes late to the cafe. They still were not ready.

Our group consisted of the Boss, KvD, B-boy, K lew, karl jr's. Route master was a mix of K lew and B-boy and it was a really good downtown loop.

Phantastic Photos Phollow...
The group getting rolling on down Broadway

B-boy in his surroundings' on Independence Ave.
Scenic Cliff Drive. Closed to cars for the weekends, very nice.
Rolling through the corners on the backside of Cliff Drive Park
Almost out of the park.

The closing shoot of the day.....

Bad News

Elder mwi Paul Chili Warloski was struck by a car yesterday in Wisco on a training ride. Unfortunately the crash caused a compound fracture of the left femur and he had surgery last night to get everything cleaned up. In two days or so a rod will be inserted.

Our thoughts are with you Chili.

One day with a great teacher can often beat a year of study or a hundred books.

Chinese proverb: Teaching is learning twice.

UPDATED: Paul has had the rod inserted into the femur. He is now resting/sedated very well. The wound from the compound has forced a skin graft which will take a couple of weeks to heal.

Crusty Gettin His Groove Back?

Well I had hoped yesterday's ride would have been less eventful. DS, Bondo, and skinny e showed up for my 'new loop'. The loop was good but the roads weren't smooth enough for DS. The roads out in the country aren't that bad, it's just they are not city maintained streets. On the plus side is that you don't have to deal with traffic!

So off we started on the loop, but first I had to model the mwi kit....

The PC version of "Deez nutz"

Modified version of the Assos ad!

The ride got off without a hitch, that is if you didn't look at my HR monitor. I knew this wasn't going to be a pleasant ride. Bondo was already itchy and I had to give him the "We do warm up ride" speech. DS and skinny e were quietly waiting to 'get it on.' We couldn't have asked for a nicer day blue skies light wind...
Note: DS has an OCD for his HR monitor! Every minute that boy was checking to see if ticker was working!

I should have obeyed the sign!

The last time I saw the group!

Crusty go BOOOM!

The lonely road!

Bondo was wondering why more kit was making me go faster since it should have been solar powered! I wish it would have been because I suffered like a dog. But at least I looked good! I must say that mwi kit is freakin' bright as hell! I better snap out of this funk and make this kit proud!

Spring Forward, Fallin Backwards?

Well as I sit here and write this I get the feeling I'm fallin of the wagon.

The training wagon that is... How you might ask? Well it started with the fact that I needed to clear some tree's outta of the backyard this weekend. Not listening to the Boss, I decided to hit it yesterday when it was in the 60's with some wind a blowin'. She told me that there was some poison ivy in that mess of trees. With the warm temp's I decided to wear my standard summer attire, Shorts and short sleeve shirt. Brilliant!!

Getting almost all the dead limbs out of the trees was a job in a half. I had to move all the limbs and such under the deck until I get a truck to haul them to the dump. To my surprise..... I wake up this morning with both arms starting to blister up. Now if anything on my body itch's I'm instantly checking to see if I have more little red bumps coming up.

So no riding for the weekend. SUCK!!

Now this weekend's race could be in jeopardy due to the dicey spring weather we are having.
At least this one will go off with a hitch! Then follow that with a big block of training.

Since this weekend was blown I got to enjoy this that much more....

BTW, check out these kits! Just ignore the HAPPY model. Better be fast to wear this, eh? I hope so!!

Gettin the Itch

I just couldn't stand it...the temp said 40 degrees, but with the winds it felt like 32 degrees. So off I go into the wild snowy yonder...

I headed out in my best Johnny Cash outfit today. All Gore-tex Windstopper head to toe.

After the six inches of snow I didn't know what to expect on the country roads but it was to my dismay I only had two spots of worry....

After those spot's it was easy sailing from there. The sides of the road though were another story...

The sun made it warm as long as I was on the cross/tail wind side of it. I know that the temps are coming though. 70 degree's by Friday, I can't wait.

.05

Damn, that's I all lost by in the FIRST round! Totally suck!! Third fastest in brackets only to sit down in 13.2 sec later. SUCK!

Good swag was to be had by Team Frank Stallone. Harlingers Upstairs is the perfect seedy hole in the wall to hold Goldsprints. Ol' One Eye was surprised by the turnout, which was good and the crowd was growing as the night progressed. Although the boss and I bailed early.

For a first time gig, it was good. But with tons of potential to be great! Untimely bikes failures caused some delay to the festivities. The killer boom box supplied subdued sounds to the sprinters while the crowd had to turn the 'good ear' to hear what was playing. To small a gear had you maxed out in no time, even considering we were doing 250m, which should be bumped up to 500m. The pace was draconian slow. Moving through the brackets at a much more expedited manner without smoke breaks would definitely make it more of an entertaining venture.

Now photo dump...
